Glasgow construction site blaze took five teams of firefighters to bring under control

Strathclyde police are investigating a fire that last night gutted a George Wimpey block of flats under construction in Glasgow.

The apartment building on the Kelvindale Glade development was engulfed by flames at around 7.40pm.Teams from five different fire stations were called in to tackle the blaze.

A fire service spokesman said: “Upon arrival the incident commander was faced with a well-developed fire within a building under construction.
