Rafael Vinõly, the architect behind the Walkie-talkie Tower at 20 Fenchurch Street in the City of London, has been appointed by Real Estate Opportunities (REO) to masterplan its Battersea Power Station site.

Vinõly beat fellow shortlisted architects Foster + Partners and SOM to design what is believed to be a largely residential scheme after Arup’s original masterplan for the 15ha site was scrapped by REO in February. REO hopes to receive fresh planning consent following the new masterplan.
