Firm also takes on former Tube Lines chief Terry Morgan as non-executive director

Maintenance contractor Mitie has reported “good growth” in the second half of the year off the back of a series of public sector wins.

In a trading update out today, the firm said group earnings for the year to 31 March were in line with management expectations.

It said business had continued to decline in interior fit-out and new-build housing but its exposure to these areas was “limited” and performance had been bolstered by public wins, including a seven-year deal with St Georges Healthcare NHS Trust and £66m worth of new social housing contracts.

Mitie added that it has a strong balance sheet, with committed funding lines of £230m, which are renewable in 2012.

The firm has also announced the appointment of Tube Lines chief executive Terry Morgan as non-executive director, with effect from 1 July.
