Puffed-up pitch: Germany is already preparing for its next crack at the World Cup, regardless of how well it does in the final against Brazil on Sunday, with this stunning new stadium. Called the Allianz Arena, it will be built in Munich and used to host the 2006 World Cup. It will also be the permanent home of two German teams, Bayern Munich and TSV 1860, who will relocate from their current home at the Olympic Stadium. The outside of the Herzog & de Meuron-designed stadium is clad in ETFE pillows backlit in the team colours of red or blue – depending on which team is playing at home. The project team includes structural engineer Arup.
