The London Borough of Newham has granted outline planning consent for a £1.5bn mixed-use scheme at Silvertown Quays, which includes an aquarium designed by Terry Farrell and Partners.

The 24 ha waterfront site in London Docklands will be developed with 4930 homes, and 16,550 m2 of leisure facilities. The site was masterplanned by Toronto-based Urban Strategies International, and the planning consultant was Montagu Evans/DP9. Joint developers are Silvertown Quays, Kajima Urban Development International and landowner the London Development Agency.
