Leading counsel for Wembley main contractor Multiplex has accused steel firm Cleveland Bridge (CBUK) of failing to meet its legal obligations over the disclosure of official documents in its damages trial.

Roger Stewart said CBUK had not put all the documents relevant to the damages dispute for temporary works at Wembley Stadium into the court.

Mr Justice Jackson ordered CBUK to conduct further examination and sign disclosure statements after these claims.

The question of disclosure came up after CBUK belatedly submitted seven CDs of information. Technical problems meant neither Multiplex’s legal team nor the judge was able to review the information.

Brian Rogan, CBUK’s managing director, agreed that he had signed disclosure statements without personally checking what had been disclosed.

He said he could not be expected to understand legal processes.

A verdict is expected next week.
