Stirling Prize winning architect has plans rejected because of impact on Christopher's Monument and surrounding buildings

A David Chipperfield scheme on the north side of London Bridge has been denied planning permission by the City of London Corporation.

The architect, who won the Stirling Prize last year for his Museum of Modern Literature in Germany, was to have designed the Seal Building for Shard developer Sellar Properties.

However, planning officers said last week that the impact on Christopher Wren’s Monument and surrounding listed buildings would be 'irresolvable without significant design modification' and the development has been rejected as a result.
