Miller Group, the Scottish housebuilder, contractor and commercial developer, has restructured its housebuilding business after its £264m acquisition of Fairclough Homes last September.

Miller's northern Home Counties business, established since the Fairclough acquisition, will be run by Fairclough executive Richard Sarraff. The business, which builds about 250 homes a year, has earmarked that division for rapid growth.

Miller Homes, led by chief executive Tim Hough, has appointed Nick Smith, a former Fairclough regional managing director, to head its North-west operation.

It has appointed Steve Birch, also from Fairclough, to lead the Yorkshire business. They will report to Brian Light, chairman of the North-west, Yorkshire and North-east regions.

Miller Homes is expected to increase its annual completions by more than half from 2505 in 2004 to more than 4000 next year.
