The RICS is in talks with finance company MDA about the potential sale of its Building Cost Information Service

The RICS is in talks with a Canadian finance company, MDA, about selling of its data arm, Building Cost Information Service (BCIS).

The BCIS is fed information by RICS members to provide building cost and maintenance information to the industry and the general public. Its main research areas are construction costs, occupancy and maintenance costs and rebuilding costs.

A spokesperson for the RICS confirmed that it was in preliminary talks with the Canadian company but added: “We receive approaches from all sorts of different organisations all of the time. We listen to these offers but have no plan to sell the BCIS, that’s our position.”
