Joint venture will cost manage £92m sea-front resort in Maputo

Horizon Towers

RLB’s South African joint venture has been appointed cost manager on a £92m resort in Maputo, Mozambique.

The 72,000 sq metre Horizon sea-front scheme is for client Rani Investment LLC and designed by South African-based DSA Architects.

It is the second major win for the joint venture, which RLB launched with South Africa-based QS Pentad in April.

The joint venture won the quantity surveyor role on energy giant Sasol’s £160m Johannesburg headquarters in July.

It comprises two 18-storey towers which house 187 serviced apartments in the one and offices in the other. The tope two floors of both towers will be penthouses.

Lance Taylor, chief executive of Rider Levett Bucknall said: “Despite numerous development challenges, Africa remains an attractive investment sector and provides room for overseas firms to diversify portfolios and participate in the emerging market boom.”
