Purchase of 55-year-old builder will enable Rok to expand into Yorkshire

Construction group ROK has acquired Yorkshire builder S. Harrison Construction from parent S. Harrison Group for £4.8m.

Harrison employs 80 staff and will form part of Rok’s Northern operations.

Rok will pay £2.4m in cash and £0.8m in shares for S. Harrison, which was founded in 1952, and a further £1.6m will be paid on completion of the deal

Commenting on the acquisition, Garvis Snook, chief executive of Rok, said: “This acquisition will further enhance Rok's operations in Yorkshire and facilitate the opening of a contracting business in the Sheffield area.”

Martyn Harrison, chairman of S. Harrison Group, said: “Harrison and Rok share the same commitment to quality and Rok provides the right infrastructure for Harrison's construction business to thrive.”

Harrison said that the deal would allow S. Harrison to focus on its development interests and partner with Rok on a number of schemes across Yorkshire.”
