Around 250 schools are expected to be built or funded during current parliament.

The Scottish government is due to announce details of its intention to redevelop school buildings.

Ministers promised around 250 schools would be built or funded during the current parliament.

But education secretary Fiona Hyslop, who pledged to meet the previous administration’s building school’s programme “brick for brick”, has come under fire from Labour for failing to keep manifesto pledges and unnecessary delays to schools’ construction.

Hyslop has said there was currently over £2bn of committed investment in schools.
