Engineers appointed to work on phase one of extending the East London Line

Consultant Scott Wilson has won a £14m contract to work on the upgrade and extension of the East London Line.

The Balfour Beatty/ Carillion joint venture, which last month won the East London Line contract, has appointed Scott Wilson to work on phase one of the project which will extend the line northwards to Dalston Junction and southwards to Crystal Palace.

Geoff French, chairman of Scott Wilson, said: “This marks the third significant major railway project announced since Scott Wilson’s stock market listing on 15 March 2006, following the announcement of the Crossrail and Edinburgh Airport Rail Link contract wins in March and May, respectively.

“We are delighted to have secured this role, which confirms our leading position in major multi-disciplinary railway projects worldwide and cements our strong presence in the London rail market. We look forward to working with TFL and the Balfour Beatty/Carillion Joint Venture, to deliver the project successfully.”
