Development agency starts search for industry partners to build centre to boost lower-than-average performance in Scotland’s construction sector.

Scottish Enterprise Glasgow is looking for industry partners to build a new centre of excellence to boost lower-than-average performance in Scotland’s construction sector.

SEG claims research carried out two years ago shows Scottish construction companies can be up to 20% less productive compared to the UK average.

It hopes the new centre will help modernise the building industry and act as a platform for sharing information and best practice.

“The importance of the industry is huge, but due to fragmentation it has not always operated as effectively as it could. The cost of this to the economy has been enormous,” said SEG senior director employability Stephanie Young.

SEG will now tender a negotiated contract to service the development of the centre.
