Developer Redrow Homes has delivered this five-storey residential development on the seafront in Porthcawl, South Wales, designed by Cardiff architects Stride Treglown Davies.

A replacement for a Victorian hotel the block houses 42 flats above retail space and is designed to reflect its seaside setting. Beach-themed features include the curved facade, meant to represent a boat’s hull, beach hut-shaped pop-ups on the roof and ice cream cone columns. It is finished in natural stone and render, with copper and zinc cladding.
