Nottingham council goes in search of architects for sustainable development

Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood and his merry men, is to get a visitors' centre.

Nottinghamshire council is searching for an architect for the complex, which will focus on the sustainable development of Sherwood Forest.

It is one of six schemes shortlisted for the Big Lottery Fund’s Living Landmarks programme. Each of the projects, costing up to £50m, will be submitted to Living Landmarks next May.

A panel of judges will then decide which projects should go through to a public vote. This will be televised nationally and a single grant will be awarded to the winner to take the project forward.

A shortlist of six architectural firms will be unveiled in the coming months.
