Consortiums headed by either Bouygues or Skanska will win the contract

The list of firms vying to build a new £165m hospital in Cambridge has been whittled down to two, according to reports.

Consortia headed by Bouygues and Skanska are competing to build and run Papworth Hospital.

The winning bid will be announced in late 2012 and the hospital will open in 2015.

The two were chosen from a shortlist of three, with the third bid coming from the Apex Health consortium of John Laing, Laing O’Rourke and Interserve.
