Masterplan for North Staffs brownfield site will be submitted for outline planning after further consultation.

English Partnerships has revealed the draft masterplan for the former Silverdale Colliery site in North Staffordshire.

The proposed plan by Taylor Young will be submitted to the local planning authority for outline planning permission once further public consultation has been taken into consideration.

Taylor Young associated director, Paul Sheppard, said, “The Silverdale Colliery masterplan brings together local community aspirations, physical and economic regeneration objectives. It will help to breathe new life into the area, though landscape restoration, new and improved infrastructure, housing, employment, community uses and recreation.”

English Partnerships, which is working with Newcastle under Lyme borough council and Staffordshire county council on the project, secured £13m funding for the project last November through the £386.5m National Coalfields programme.
