The final selection of developer for the regeneration of Ilford town centre will be made in May 2007

Six developers have made the shortlist for the £100 million town centre regeneration scheme in Ilford.

Barratt Homes, Bellway City Solutions with Metropolitan Housing, Berkeley Homes, Countryside/Tesco Stores, Crest Nicholson and Lend Lease have been selected out of 15 developers who submitted proposals.

The London Borough of Redbridge (LBR) and their advisor Drivers Jonas will make the final selection in May 2007 for the Unity Square town centre regeneration scheme in Ilford, Essex.

The scheme, to be completed by 2012, will comprise at least 450 residential units, a new theatre and public plaza, ground floor retailing and leisure facilities.

Redbridge Council’s cabinet member for planning and regeneration, Councillor Jim O’Shea commented: ‘The quality of submissions received at Stage 1 was extremely impressive, a fact borne out by the “who’s who” nature of our shortlist. The Council is determined to work in close partnership with the chosen developer and the procurement process will ensure Ilford gets the right partner for a scheme that is best suited to the needs of the town and is both highly sustainable and regenerative’.
