£119m highway contract brings hat-trick of recent road wins for Skanska.

Skanska has won the £119m contract to design and construct the new M1 Junction 19 near Rugby. It is the third highways scheme Skanska has won this month – together they are worth £383m.

The contract has been awarded under the Highway Agency’s Early Contractor Involvement Initiative, which is designed to enable the contractor to contribute towards the development of the scheme during the design period.

The junction, which connects the M1 to the M6 and A14 is due for completion in early 2010 and is being constructed to improve congestion, reduce delays and improve road safety.

The four-level junction will also provide access to the villages of Catthorpe and Swinford, and will start on site in Summer 2007.
