Parliamentary watchdog the National Audit Office is due to publish a report on the London Underground public–private partnership early next year.
The NAO began its research after the tube consortiums (Tube Lines and Metronet) reached financial close on their 30-year contracts in March.

An NAO spokesperson said:

“We have been keeping an eye

on the project for some years. We are hoping to publish the report between December and February.”

The spokesperson added: “The report will look at whether it was

a good deal that can be made to work effectively.

“We are looking at the relationships between the parties running the schemes and the mechanisms in place.”

The NAO published a financial analysis of the decision to go ahead with the PPP in December 2000.
