Birmingham council is set to give the go-ahead for a two-site location for the city's library at a council meeting next week, a decision that will rule out a proposal by Richard Rogers Partnership for a single-site building at Eastside.

Glen Howells Architects, Make and Adjaye Associates this week unveiled their designs for the £147m project, which will include a £42m archive and heritage centre. The cubic design by Glen Howells Architects and Ken Shuttleworth's glass covered structure offer futuristic options; Adjaye Associates offers a more traditional design.
