Schüco’s facade system has the strength to support a tall glazing design

Schüco’s FW 50+SG facade system was specified as part of the redevelopment of the grade II-listed offices of Salisbury council at Bourne Hill.
The new free-standing glazed building, which is an extension of the original, was designed to achieve an “excellent” BREEAM rating. Schüco said the decision to use the stainless steel structural glazing system was agreed between the architects and Glamalco, the specialist curtain-walling subcontractor, because they thought it had the strength and rigidity required to support the tall glazing that was integral to the design. The cladding features an automatically operational window behind a feature grille, which allows the building to be ventilated invisibly.
