Forum membership to be reduced to six organisations, as body restructures into two distinct groups.

The Strategic Forum is to rationalise its structure from the beginning of next year. Forum membership is to be reduced to six organisations:

  • Construction Clients Group
  • Construction Confederation
  • Construction Industry Council
  • Construction Products Association
  • A joint group of the National Specialist Contractors Council and Specialist Engineering Contractors Group
  • A joint group of the trades unions

The forum will now be split into two distinct groups: an executive panel, comprising the six chief executives nominated by the member groups; and the Strategic Forum which will comprise th chairmen/ presidents of the six groups together with the CEOs.

The Forum will meet three times a year and each meeting will be invited from government and elsewhere. The executive panel will take charge of achieving targets set by Accelerating Change.

"Perhaps the most important issue for the industry continues to be its fragmented nature".

Outgoing Strategic Forum chairman Peter Rogers

Speaking after the meeting, the outgoing chairman, Peter Rogers, said: "Perhaps the most important issue for the industry continues to be its fragmented nature, and it is hoped that this new structure will engender greater cooperation and make the Forum an exemplar in integration".
