PCKO Architects has incorporated 200 m2 of photovoltaic tiles into its design for a £1.25m accommodation complex in Llanelli, Wales. Solar panels on the roof and the front elevation will generate electricity for six townhouses and nine studio flats, as well as communal spaces and training facilities. Client for the scheme is Gwalia Housing Society, ER Brown & Partners is QS and the contractor is Welsh-based Jistcourt. It is due for completion in spring 2002.
