Cartwright Pickard Architects has capitalised on the success of its Murray Grove social housing in London and its Sixth Avenue Apartments in York to export its expertise in off-site construction to the USA. The practice has been selected to work with a Chicago developer on a modular flats to be built over car parks. The idea is to take advantage of underused space to build affordable housing.Cartwight Pickard was named this week as winner of an Anglo-French housing competition run by CABE to design affordable housing in White City with French firm B+C Architectes. Proctor Matthew and Michel W Kagan will work on a scheme in Rayners Lane Estate in Middlesex.
