The New Swindon Company mixed use scheme will provide offices for the town's booming economy.

Swindon's regeneration partnership has launched the search for a developer for a £300m town-centre scheme.

The New Swindon Company (NSC), a partnership between English Partnerships, South West of England RDA and Swindon Borough Council, is planning to redevelop a 17.5 acre area known as The Exchange.

The scheme will be around 160,000 m2, which the NSC envisages could include 60,000 sq m of B1 offices, 300 - 400 residential units, 40,000m2 of retail / bars and leisure facilities and a 200 bed hotel.

Peter James, chief executive of The NSC, said: "The Exchange is an extremely exciting opportunity, both for a developer and for Swindon. We are now looking for an experienced partner with a track record of delivering high quality regeneration.

"Swindon has a booming economy and The Exchange will help to provide the quality offices that companies need along with new homes and improved retail and leisure facilities to meet market demand."
