Foster and Partners’ design for the £182m refurbishment of 1 Parliament Street, Westminster, has been delivered ahead of time and on budget. The building will become the headquarters for the Inland Revenue and HM Customs and Excise next year. The project was financed through a PFI team, the Exchequer Partnership No 2, comprising developer Stanhope and contractor Bovis Lend Lease. The refurbishment included 514 rooms, 2 miles of corridor, 1400 windows and a 2764 m2 open-plan space on the fourth floor.
