co-location centre owner Global Switch is choosing three UK fit-out firms to take part in its worldwide framework contractor programme. These companies will carry out contracts on its UK construction programme.
Richard Borton, Global Switch's director of projects and facilities management, told Building that the firm is currently in talks with Interior, Waterfield and Morgan Lovells.

Structuretone has also been approached for the UK projects as well as similar framework agreements in France and Holland.

Bellwater, which has already carried out five fit-out contracts for the firm in the UK, is also in the frame for the UK deal.

Borton would not be drawn on contract values or the amount of work planned but the firm has built 17 centres across 11 countries since 1998.

A decision on the successful contractors will be made in the next three months.

The firm is also in negotiations with two contractors to manage the progress of its worldwide construction programme. One of the firms is believed to be from the UK.

Borton said that these appointments would also be made in the next three months.

Global Switch will also set up framework agreements. These will bring in six consultants for each discipline in each country.
