Town centre regeneration scheme will provide 231 homes

Spenhill, the wholly owned regeneration subsidiary of Tesco, has won planning for a seven acre regeneration scheme in Dartford town centre.

A 100,000ft² Tesco superstore will anchor the scheme, which also includes 45,000ft² of commercial space and 231 one and two bedroom apartments.

Jonathan Simpson, corporate affairs manager for Tesco, said: “We have a successful track record of completing bespoke mixed-use, complex town centre schemes within major retail areas and towns.

“We have worked in partnership with Dartford Borough Council and the local community to jointly develop the vision for Dartford’s regeneration. This decision paves the way for the vision to become a reality and bring life back to Lowfield Street and Dartford town centre.

“The majority of people who live in Dartford currently do not shop there. We hope the scheme, which has received overwhelming support, will bring shoppers back to the town centre.”
