For a state-of-the-art interactive science centre in the German town of Wolfsburg, Saxony, Zaha Hadid has come up with a futuristic magic box designed to awaken curiosity and the desire for discovery.

Hadid’s hallmark “complex, dynamic and fluid spaces” come in the form of two cavernous open-plan floors supported on and intersected by triangular funnel-shaped cones containing entrance hall, shop, restaurant and workshops. The British project team included Adams Kara Taylor as structural engineer, Buro Happold as services engineer and Hanscomb as cost consultant.

The German firms on the project included Heitkamp as concrete contractor.
