The discovery of Australia: Nicholas Grimshaw & Partners has won its first project down under with the redevelopment of a railway station and interchange in Melbourne. The arrivals hall will stretch out beneath an undulating roof, with shops contained in pods suspended over the concourse. It will be developed and leased back as a £160m public–private partnership by a consortium headed by ABN Amro bank and including Leighton Contractors and local practice Daryl Jackson Architecture.
