Tribal Group has posted improved interim results for the six months ended 30 September.

The group, which has just shut Urban Futures, its sustainable communities arm, reported revenue of £98m, a rise of 20% on its interims for the same period last year. Its pre-tax profit was £7.3m, an increase of 7%.

Henry Pitman, Tribal’s chief executive, said: “We’ve had a solid performance and, with market conditions buoyant, the group is well placed to benefit from opportunities emerging from public sector reform.”

Strone Macpherson, the chairman, said: “There is strong consulting demand and increasing evidence of long-term outsourcing opportunities, particularly in education and health. There is some softness in the recruitment advertising market and in healthcare PFI, where several contracts have been delayed.”

Tribal has also signed a three-year £12m contract with the Department of Education and Skills to develop the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics.
