Jones will oversee a transition on Tube Lines’ lines as new signalling systems are installed. He has 37 years of railway experience, gained with Amey and British Rail, and is on long-term secondment with Tube Lines from shareholder Amey.

Jones will report to Tube Lines chief executive Terry Morgan, who said: “Lee has improved performance on the Northern line, successfully renegotiated our fleet maintenance contract with Alstom and championed people development and innovation across the company.

“I look forward to seeing him take Tube Lines’ operational performance to a new level by encouraging further improvements in the way we do business.”
