Ucatt urges site workers to remember site accident victims for International Workers Memorial Day

Construction workers are being asked to hold a two-minute silence today in memory of those who have died in site accidents.

Construction union Ucatt made the calls in acknowledgement of International Workers Memorial Day.

Wreaths will be laid at the statue of the unknown builder at Tower Hill, London. A rally has also been scheduled to take place outside the Health and Safety Executive building in London.

Lobby groups will use today to demand an improvement in site safety.

Construction workers across the world will remember workmates killed on the job, including Australia, where workers downed tools for one minute earlier today.
