United Business Media adds to its building portfolio with purchase of construction information provider.

United Business Media has bought ABI Building Data Ltd from EMAP for at least £12m. It will also pay an additional amount equal to the cash in the business.

Last year ABI, which provides construction sales and marketing information services for contractors and suppliers across the UK, had a turnover of £5.5m, and made a pre-tax, pre-interest profit of £1.1m.

ABI provides construction sales and marketing information services serving the UK construction sector. It provides sales leads, contact data, CRM software and marketing intelligence and is aimed primarily at construction contractors and material suppliers.

ABI will be part of UBM’s CMPi business where it will be positioned in the Built Environment Division.

UBM chief executive David Levin said: “ABI is an excellent ‘bolt on’ opportunity for UBM. It allows us to consolidate our chosen markets, meets our strict financial criteria and as such is a good fit with our continuing strategy.”
