Planning permission has been granted for 30 modular homes in the 13,000-home Wirral Waters scheme in Birkenhead, to be delivered as a joint venture between Peel L&P and Urban Splash.

The permission will see the installation of the modular volumetric homes from Urban Splash’s offsite subsidiary, House by Urban Splash, as part of the 347-home next phase of the massive £4.5bn regeneration project.

The £55m phase, called East Float, is being delivered by a 50-50 joint venture between Urban Splash and North west landowner and developer Peel L&P.

This will represent one of the biggest developments since Urban Splash sold a 35% stake in the offsite business to Japanese modular housebuilding giant Sekisui House last year in a £90m deal also involving Homes England.

Peel-owned Wirral Waters is one of the largest regeneration projects in the UK, with 13,000 homes planned and 20 million sq ft of mixed-use commercial space envisaged on the left bank of the river Mersey.
