UK acquisitions helped contribute to sharp rise in interim profit and 33% growth in turnover to £63.6m

Environmental consultancy Waterman Group has posted a 43% rise in pre-tax profit to £3.3m for the six months to 31 December 2007.

Turnover jumped from £47.7m to £63.6m over the same period.

Chief executive Nick Taylor put the strong performance down to the company’s UK acquisitions and efficiencies from the existing business.

He said: “Despite the continuing uncertainty regarding the world economy, all the sectors in which we operate are currently performing well.”

He added it was bidding on BSF deals with a construction value of more than £500m.

It upped the interim dividend to 2.5p per share from 2.2p.
