Stephen Beechey is to run Wates’ PPP schemes as group investment director
Wates has poached Laing O’Rourke’s education head and put him in charge of the firm’s PPP schemes.
Stephen Beechey has been made group investment director for Wates, having previously worked for Laing O’Rourke, Carillion and Jarvis.
Dave Smith, Wates Group chief operating officer said; “The market for privately financed projects has changed significantly and we believe they will continue to evolve in the years ahead. Stephen brings to Wates a new array of skills developed over 10 years working in a number of senior private finance and development roles which will be of great benefit across our businesses. “
It is another high-profile departure from Laing O’Rourke, which lost finance director Iain Ferguson in March and chief operating officer Tony Douglas last November.
