A NEW E-COMMERCE venture aimed solely at housebuilders, thebuilding-site.com, is offering firms a stake in the company.
The venture is targeting the top 25 housebuilders in a bid to act as a platform for firms, their subcontractors and suppliers.

Firms will also be offered a negotiated stake in the website. Linden and Fairview have already signed up to the site, but have not yet bought shares in it.

Robert Alcock, chief executive of the site, said it would be able to offer housebuilders a sector-specific service.

He said: "There has been a lot of hype about how the internet can be harnessed to deliver cost-savings and business efficiency. Our view is that many of the companies trying to offer solutions are unfocused, as they are trying to address the needs of the whole construction industry."

The site begins trading in January.
