The £2.1m Dalby Forest visitor centre in North Yorkshire has won this year’s Prime Minister’s Better Public Building award, beating 17 shortlisted projects.

Designed by White Design, it was hailed by the judges for its commitment to sustainability. It is clad in larch grown in the forest, its water supply is from a local spring and it is heated by locally sourced woodchip.
