Southwark Council has granted planning permission for the scheme on Blackfriars Road

Southwark Council has given the planning green light to a Wilkinson Eyre scheme featuring 42 and 23-storey towers.

The two towers are opposite the Ian Simpson-designed Beetham tower which gained detailed planning permission in December.

The two towers and surrounding new buildings will feature 300 flats, offices and open space. A section 106 agreement will see investment in local education facilities, healthcare, road improvements, and the renovation of Christchurch Gardens. Locals are also to be given construction jobs on the site.

Cllr Richard Thomas, Southwark Council's executive member for regeneration, said: “This is another step forward in the transformation of Blackfriars Road with a great new landmark building.

“New developments can impact on the communities who live and work in the area, which is why this section 106 is so important. It enables us to provide the facilities and infrastructure required to support our growing communities.”
