This is the final design for the 2014 Winter Olympic stadium in the Russian town of Sochi

Designed by Populous, it will be delivered by the Russian contractor Engeocom and Botta Management. The bowl opens to the north, allowing for a view of the Krasnaya Polyana mountains where the downhill events will take place. The walls and roof of the 40,000-capacity venue will be one continuous glass surface. The stadium will cost £40m to build and it should be open in 2012.
