Work has begun on the £100m Riverside Quarter, the first large London project to be designed by Leeds-based architect Carey Jones.
The development includes 315 apartments in five buildings overlooking the Thames in Wandsworth, south London. It is a joint venture between developers LCD Developments, Fairbriar and London Town.

The scheme includes 15,000 m2 of commercial space and 16 moorings. Residents will have underground parking and leisure facilities and the public will be able to use a piazza and riverside walk.

Carey Jones director Tim Tolcher said: “We have set an example of how residential and commercial accommodation can sit side by side.”

The project is on the site of a former Shell oil terminal. The masterplan was drawn up by Assael Architecture and the landscaped gardens and piazza were designed by Derek Lovejoy Partnership.

Contractors include O’Rourke and Charter Construction. QS is EC Harris, structural consultant is Cameron Taylor Bedford, services consultant is WSP, and project manager is Jonathan Alexander.

The first phase of construction is due to be completed in 18 months.

In April, Carey Jones received detailed planning permission for a £100m office development in Leeds.
