PCKO Architect's project in Ealing has received HCA funding for 30 flats and six houses for social rent

Construction is due to begin on the first local authority houses for social rent for 20 years.

The Eastcote Lane project in Ealing, west London, has been designed by PCKO Architects and is one of three sites for which the council obtained direct funding from the Homes and Communities Agency.

It incorporates 30 apartments and six houses on a council-owned brown field site next to Northolt tube station.

The scheme includes a link to a combined heat and power system in the adjacent leisure centre to use surplus heat generated by the facility in order to reduce energy consumption and costs for residents. This contributes to the scheme achieving level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.

The project is due to complete in spring 2011.
