Police and HSE launch investigation into man's death during construction of spectator stand

A construction worker has been killed while working on the Hampshire Rose Bowl cricket ground.

The incident occurred yesterday afternoon at the McAleer and Rushe site. Hampshire police said the unnamed man had been working on the construction of a new spectator stand being built at the Rose Bowl, but it remains unclear as to how he died.

Police said the man had still to be formally identified and next of kin informed, but that a report would be submitted to the coroner.

The Health and Safety Executive and police have launched an enquiry.
