Private contractor Wrekin and project management consultant AYH have appointed senior executives.
Wrekin has taken on Stephen Hallett as chairman to replace Brian Newell, who left last month. Hallett, 55, was managing director at Yorkshire contractor S Harrison Construction and a director at Birse. He will work two days a month.

Board director Simon Frain, whose father founded Wrekin, said: "Stephen has vast experience of the construction industry with a demonstrable record of success."

AYH has appointed Peter Vince as managing director. Vince, who joined the AYH Birmingham office in 1994, takes over from David Thompson, who remains as chairman.

Thompson said: "We will be working closely together to put in place the next phase of the firm's growth. Since 1999 turnover has increased from £10m to £20m, and we are planning to double the size of the business again by 2006."

AYH has also formed a joint venture with Glasgow QS Brown & Partners. Vince said: "Brown & Partners provides a firm base for us to expand in Scotland."
