Acquisition aims to strengthen firm’s presence in Scotland

WSP has acquired Hulley & Kirkwood, a building services consultancy with seven offices across the UK.

Hulley & Kirkwood was founded in 1953 and employs 122 people, with a strong presence in Scotland. It specialises in healthcare, defence, commercial, education and government schemes.

WSP said the acquisition would strengthen its building services capabilities in healthcare and defence while enhancing its regional presence in Scotland.

WSP president and managing director for the UK and Ireland Paul Reilly said the newly acquired firm “brings a strong technical reputation, deep sector expertise and an established regional presence, particularly in Scotland”.

Hulley & Kirkwood director Michale O’Donnell added: “We believe this acquisition by WSP will provide incredible new opportunities for everyone in the business to fulfil their potential and realise their ambitions within a global organisation that, like Hulley & Kirkwood, has always valued excellent service and local delivery for all clients.”  

The integration will be delivered through a structured programme, ensuring continuity for clients while unlocking opportunities for growth, collaboration and enhanced service delivery. 

WSP has more than 12,000 staff in the UK and 83,000 across the world, operating in over 50 countries. WSP announced last week it has abandoned its attempts to acquire Arcadis.
