White Young Green (WYG) has acquired Irish consultancy Malachi Cullen & Partners (MCP) for *1.6m (£1.1m).

MCP is a structural engineering consultancy working in the Irish Midlands. Pre-tax profit for the company was *220,000 (£144,000) on a turnover of *1.6m (£1.1m) for the year ended 31 March 2006. The firm currently employs 19 staff in Athlone in Co Westmeath.

All the MCP directors have joined WYG Group.

John Purvis, the chief executive of WYG, said the acquisition would allow it to move into the Midlands region, which comprises counties Laois, Offaly, Longford and Westmeath.

He said: “WYG will seek to enhance the range of services available to MCP’s clients, enabling them to engage more strategically in the future.”

In November WYG bought engineer Adams Kara Taylor.
