Acquisition of Adams Kara Taylor helps drive up interim profit at White Young Green to £9m

Pre-tax profit at consultant White Young Green jumped by a third in the six months to 31 December 2007.

The figure rose from £6.9m in 2006 to £9m on the back of a 35% increase in turnover to £134.1m.

Chairman Peter Wood said: “The strategy of having a broadly based business with no disproportionate dependence on specific sectors of the economy means the group is well-positioned to meet the increasing demands of its growing client base.”

The balance between public and private sector work is 48% and 52% respectively.

The engineering division delivered the strongest turnover growth of 42%, in part due to the acquisition of civil engineering consultancy Adams Kara Taylor. The sector accounts for 43% of turnover (2006: 41%)

Management services comprises 33% (36%) of turnover and saw 20% organic growth in the period.

Environment saw growth of 39% and now comprises 24% of turnover.
